Games are important cultural artifacts, and—just like poetry, film, and visual art—they reward closer study. The Y Play Games Lecture Series features faculty giving a short, 25-minute lecture about a game of their choice. Frequently drawing on the lecturer’s other research interests, the talks address game play, theme, visual style, and more.
The Y Play Games Lectures take place on a weekly basis during the Fall and Winter semesters on Mondays at 4pm in 1141 JFSB. All are welcome to attend.
What’s more, the game of the week is available to be played from Monday through Saturday in 1141 JFSB, giving members of the BYU community a chance to personally interact and study the game themselves.
The lecture series has been covered by the Deseret News, KSL.com, BYU News, and the Daily Universe.
